ORIGINAL SITUATION

  • Provide strategic advice and direction to support Vocational and Further Education Operations through a review of existing Student Management System capabilities and supporting processes.

  • Develop an inventory of system and business issues to be prioritised based on strategic, business and risk impacts.

  • Develop an aggregated solutions program of work including costings and timelines.

  • Provide strategic options advice to the Senior Leadership Group and other Governance Committees.

DELIVERED SOLUTION

IMA Management & Technology (IMA-MT) provided a Senior Business Analyst with the responsibility to:

  • Develop an inventory of all related system, process and business issues.

  • Approach the work using classic problem analysis techniques: Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control.

  • Develop process maps to show "As-Is" University functions and align it with the “To-Be” expectations.

  • Identify root causes and perform gap analysis.

  • Identify quick wins to alleviate pressing issues.

  • Develop an aggregated program of work.

  • Produce time, cost and effort estimations (with dependencies and critical path).

  • Present fortnightly to the Student management System Working Party for decisions and advice.
